Yom Kippur and The Sealing of the Fate

At sundown this Tuesday begins Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the biblical calendar and the Sabbath of Sabbaths. It is the conclusion of the high holy days that began on Rosh Hashanah also known as the Days of Awe.

It is the day when the fate of people and even nations are decided and written in the book of life.

Why do I bring up these biblical days time and again? Because it is important to know the season, it is important to know what the Lord is asking of us. If we have an ear to hear we will know what is happening.

Is it mere coincidence that as America has been given many warning that concluded with the arrival of Rosh Hashanah that there is a shift in so many areas? Or that the Pope is visiting the White House on the eve of Yom Kippur?

When the Lord looks upon the United States of America, what will He judge? Does He observe a nation that has heeded His warnings to turn from sin and wickedness or does He look upon a nation that has instead run toward sin?

What of you? Do you do lip service to Christianity? When you claim to follow Jesus Christ, are you a Christian in name only or do you judge yourself and recognize the sin you hold so dear?

Are you dedicated to being a student of the teachings of Jesus and the word of God or do you attend church and bible study every few weeks whether you need it or not?

This season we are in is a time to decide what kind of person you really are and for America to decide what kind of nation she really wants to become. But the time is about up. Soon the books will be closed and the judgment rendered.
The time for choosing will be over.
