The bible tells us that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy and one thing he goes after more than any other is a child. We find this in the story of Moses as the devil is unsure of where the deliverer will be born and a great number of the first born males are killed.
Many of the false religions throughout the ages involve child sacrifice which is pleasing to Satan while angering the Lord. Child sacrifice was one of the reasons that Israel was taken into captivity and the cold hearts of the people, especially the mothers only acted to pour salt into the wound.
The death of children on a larger scale showed up again when the devil sought to kill the Messiah near His birth in Bethlehem and we can see the nature of that old dragon in the book of Revelation as he waits for the woman Israel to birth Messiah to end any hope for mankind.
Our modern world is no different, we may believe that we are smarter or more advance but nothing has changed in the nature of man, we still kill our young in the worship of what is false. We can observe this nature at work not only in the case of so many women killing their children in the name of themselves but in how often we see stories of children being killed outside the womb.
Take the brutal killing of a one year old in Albuquerque were some pathetic excuse of a human beat the baby to death. We know that New Mexico law and the sort of judges the state has allowed to remain on the bench will fail to bring justice even in the face of such brutality.
Then there was the horrific news out of Russia of an apparent Muslim woman who beheaded a 4-year-old child and walked the streets carrying the head while shouting the usual Islamic declaration of how great her false god is.
In both of those cases these adults were charged with caring for two defenseless babies but instead took their lives for two very different reasons, yet the source is the same.
Satan ultimately desires to destroy humanity and one of the better ways to do this is to desensitize us to the brutality committed against children. But there is more to it than that.
You see, babies and young children are supposed to bring us joy and hope, a sense that there is still goodness in the world and a new beginning. This was true even when Adam and Eve were expecting their first child as they expected God to keep His promise to save them.
The devil wants to take our joy, our hope and he especially wants to steal the promise of God that we can be saved. So, we see a greater number of children being killed and a dehumanization of the expected child and the very young.
We fail to understand that children are a blessing, a gift from God meant to restore us. We must oppose the enemy’s plan to continue stealing, killing and destroying by opposing abortion and demanding proper punishment for heartless murderers, we must defend life.
