It’s true. Lenard Nimoy, the actor who played the Vulcan first officer on Star Trek passed away last week was Jewish. Having attended synagogue from his youth he recalled that when the kohen or priest would pronounce the Aaronic blessing on the congregation he would spread his central fingers and thumb to represent the name of the Lord in what has now become a famous gesture outside of the world of Judaism.
