Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has determined that law enforcement in that state can display our nation’s motto, “In God We Trust” on their units.
In a written response to state law makers the AG stated that he did not believe that the motto passed by congress in 1956 being displayed on the back of police units would violate the establishment clause of the US Constitution, this was also the opinion of Texas Governor Gregg Abbott.
The issue rose when the godless Freedom From Religion Foundation discovered that police units in Childress, Texas had the nation’s motto, “In God We Trust” emblazoned in big white letters across the back, they demanded that the motto be removed immediately.
Adrian Garcia, head of the Childress Police Department, sent a blunt response that read in part, “After carefully reading your letter I must deny your request for the removal of our nation’s motto from our patrol units, and ask that you and the Freedom From Religion Foundation go fly a kite,”
We can learn a valuable lesson from Garcia’s response, we are taking back America for the Lord, you are welcome to join us but if you prefer to take another road then please do so and enjoy the kite flying.
Followers of Jesus Christ are commanded by God to tell the truth of the gospel in love but we are not to be ashamed of the gospel. For awhile at least we have the freedom to practice our faith in public and we should do so.
We often ask why New Mexico falls to the bottom of good lists and rises to the top of bad ones. There are good and Godly people in this state and we have a rich history that we should remember.
It is because we are not choosing God. Now Texas is not a perfect state, but enough people are choosing the Lord and blessings follow that choice.
We too can be a state that takes a stand against the tyranny of the godless; we do not have to be a poorer, smaller version of liberal and godless California. It takes the courage of Joshua to say, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord”, and maybe it starts with a decal on our cars.
