God intended for families to be strong but in order to have a strong family we need to have the right building blocks and define the ideals that God meant for us to have in each member.
First comes the father, the Lord meant for families to have fathers and in the days of Moses the two Hebrew letters that made up the word for father looked like the head of an ox and the outline of a tent.
The Hebrew letter aleph that eventually became our letter A look like an ox head, this communicated strength or first or leader, while the Hebrew letter bet was drawn in the days of Moses, appeared much like our lower case English b lying on its back and looked like a tent or home and that is what it symbolized.
Together, these two letters best give us an idea of the role a father or an abba in the family because you see a father is to be the strength of the home.
Modern ideas of family would downplay such a purpose for men in the home as sexist or demining toward women but that is just foolish thinking that the enemy promotes to weaken the family and ultimately society.
Because you see the role of a father is to bring love with strength and clarity of teaching to the home. This does not diminish the role of a mother but compliments it by bringing contrast.
Fathers are given the responsibility by God to bring sound biblical teaching and doctrine. This is done by not only talking to our children and wives about the ways of God as outlined in scripture by living it out.
A man who lives out his faith in everyday situations gives strength to his home as he provides for his family, gains a good reputation and avoids the trouble of greed and lust. These are the lessons that children learn by watching.
A Godly father also sets the example by having an active faith that is involved in the local church through regular attendance, tithing and bible study.
True strength of the home is not about how much weight a man can lift but the strength needed to build a Godly family where the mother can bring life and the children can work to build a lifelong faith that brings a good life.
All that is left is for fathers to choose to walk with God and be the strength of the home.
